National Disaster Management Agency (NaDMA) – The Honorable Tillman Thomas, Prime Minister, at the Budget Presentation on Friday 15th January 2010 has pledged an initial sum $100,000.00 United States dollars to Haiti in response to the January 12th devastating earthquake.
This sum will be in addition to all monies raised through a media-thon, which is a collaborative initiative of the National Disaster Management Agency (NaDMA) and several media organizations in Grenada. This will be held at the television studios of the Grenada Broadcasting Network (GBN) on Monday 18th January 2010, 8:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m
The Agency is making a heartfelt appeal to all businesses, schools, churches and private citizens to please contribute to this event either by calling in to the programme to make their pledges, making an on-air presentation or depositing their contribution at any branch of the Grenada Cooperative Bank Ltd to the account named Government of Grenada Haiti Assistance Fund, account number 121003657.
As a sister CARICOM state, Grenada must do its part to help those who were affected by this natural disaster.
